November 18, 2009 by darajachoirPerhaps you’ve read James 1:27, in which God urges us to look after orphans and widows, but have you ever heard of orphans looking after widows? Yesterday, Daraja led worship at an assisted living home here in Birmingham, Alabama. By leading worship, these 23 orphaned and vulnerable children from Kenya looked after everyone living in the home, most of whom were widows and widowers.
It was an incredible time and so neat to watch kids from Kenya connect with senior citizens in Alabama! They have radically different backgrounds and come from different generations (different centuries even!). But you know, it’s neat- sometimes the person that appears most unlike you ends up being one of the people you can connect with the most.
